My first Walbro whined like a summa gun. The new one I have in is only a few months old so it's not bad yet.

usually you can't hear the Walbro whining in the evo if it's really needed the pump.

This is why I'm leaning towards DW but like I said in another post my tuner said to stay away from it but didnt really give a reason why...

Hey ReaperX, do you think you could show me where you read that running e85 w/ the wally that failed? I've read reviews from some credible members of this forum that have used the wally pumps with e85 successfully for years.. I can put the links up if you'd like.

Edit: I'm just interested because I too plan to switch to e85 in the near future, once I get some injectors..

I'm also switching to E-85 in a few weeks and have no plans to swap out my Walbro

The only thing with the Wally on E85 is that the filter attached to it starts to clog up and even get hard, like its packed with sugar. My Wally started to give me bad AFR's.

I would at least get a filter on the Walbro that is compatible for E85

Mine is generally fairly quiet but in the summer after a track day it will whine so loudly for the rest of the day I feel bad for it

Haha I know how you feel. The Wally gets pretty loud.

Do yourself a favor and get an aeromotive 340. No whine and more fuel if you ever want more power.

I was paranoid of the whine like you, but after running my Walbro 255 for three years, I can say without a doubt that the whine is pretty mild. I'm fanatical about keeping my Evo civil enough for daily driving with my family, and no one but me noticed the additional noise which can only be heard at idle. It gets a bit louder in the summer, but still very acceptable. It never got any louder with age, but I'm not terribly hard on my Evo. Just some WOT once in a while. Its not ever seen an extended beating on a road course.

With that said, the DW300 is dead silent.

^ I'm glad you understand..I'm a family man as well and my tolerance for annoying noises has become limited with age... plus I am in cali and giving the police here more reasons to give me a ticket (like a loud noise coming from the gas tank) is the last thing I want
