Installed Cams today......twice :(

I have an appointment for next weekend to get a new tune (93&E85) so I decided to install the parts that have been collecting in the corner. I started with a compression test which was 155 on all. Everything went smooth except for the cams. After initial crank I figured the lifters would be noisy because they were just bled but I did not expect the sound of a 7.2 turbo diesel . After proceeding with the idle-3000RPM steps the sound made no change. I pulled the cams back out and bled the lifters again. I verified everything 3 times to make sure there was nothing wrong. After performing the same steps and driving the car around the noise failed to lessen. Feel free to shoot me your thoughts

PS I didn't have time to make a video of it, one because CM9 for the DroidX doesn't have a functioning camera and two because I was tired So here is the sound its making on another evo

mine did this randomly when i first bought it and i already had the hks 272's in. i then switched over to gsc zero tick lifters which when i first started it after the install it was 3 times as loud but i let it idle and it soon fixed itself within i want to say like 30min, and has been silent for the past 2 years

had my head rebuilt and my lifters ticked for about 20 or so minutes after first initial startup....I let her idle and it resolved itself..light driving around the block too. how long have you let it idle/run since csm install?

I probably drove it less than 4 miles( due to being uneasy about the tick) I'm headed to work, So I'll see about putting more miles on it. Might just be the fact that I haven't given it enough time. I'm probably going to decide on a revised lifter option.

Might sound like a dumb question but is your oil level full....low oil level wouldnt allow the lifters to fully fill therfore could cause the dreaded tick. Also wha brand of oil are you using....??? Some oils can help with the tick.... Good luck.....worse case a new set of zero tick lifters should help, helped mine with ticking only ticks at cold idle, due to 20w50 oil not warmed up. good luck.

You just need to drive it more. They should quiet down after seeing higher rpms a few times.

Not a dumb questions, it was one of the first things I checked because that is exactly what it sounded like. I'm using Syntec 10w30.

sound is normal! eventually it will quiet down, took my friends car about 100miles. how did you replace the cams? tensioner tool? the hydraulic tenisioner shouldt be compressed all the time, that could also cause the sound your car is making.

Its because mitsu lifters are kinda crappy And big cams make them worse. IT should go away but if it doesn't get some gsc lifters. I got some on order because I'm tired of the tick also.
