2.1 with 4g64 short block
Have you been able to determine why your engine blew? How much boost were you running at the time? What about fuel? Were you injecting straight Meth? Did you have pump gas or race fuel in the tank? Were you logging AFR'S and Knock on that run? How about peak boost, EGT's and fuel pressure?
I was using VP Q16 fuel with 35 psi of boost. The AFR was 12.0-12.2 I think.
honestly, I don´t know if my boost Up that night. There something that i´m sure, the track was dirty (había mucha grava a la hora de frenar) so, when I finished the race in 4th gear around 8,300 RPM, I brake the car hard and shift to 3rd gear in that shift the rpm up to 5-6K rpm, but no so high like redline.
After that my engine turn off and blew the engine. the short block has a bih hole in clilinder 1.
You got it? I´m not good explain that and my english really sucks!
Do you run an EGT gauge sourced off the 1st, or 2nd runner of the exhaust manifold?
Personally, I would not race at 35 PSI and 8300 RPM w/o an accurate digital EGT gauge. For race runs, you can just get yourself a Fluke Multimeter w/a digital, backlit screen, and peak hold recall and just strap it to the AC vent on the center of your dash, above the radio, with nylon zipties.
This is cobby looking, and non JDM, I know, but it does the job and you can remove it after the competition. You need to monitor EGT's as well as WOT fuel pressure at the rail and not only A/F ratios. It would be enlightening to have recorded the highest EGT in the #1 chamber at 8300 and 35# in 4th gear. AFR's are an indirect, derivative conversion, whereas, EGT's and FP are direct readings.

Was in the second run!
... Do you have facebook or whatsapp??? I can send to you some picstures of the damage in the block. was in cylinder 1. Broke a rod and damage the crank and made two holes in the block.
Anyone can help me, with suggestions too.
Am using a 94mm crank and 150 Aluminium rods with 86mm on a 4G63 and basically my pistons ring gave way at 30psi of boost. The car was smoking and my mechanic is opening the engine bay to give me the details.
I am thinking of using the crank with the rods and getting a piston not manley as my previous piston were Manley and it caused this, I am looking for Mahle or any pistons that I can buy straight away. Any suggestions, I am also willing to use the 4G64 ,
Just need to get the pistons

all his parts were shipped. i gave him a good deal on all his parts. crank, rods, pistons, and a bunch of other stuff. he should have a strong engine once its back together! i convinced him to go with the turbo tuff i-beam rods vs h-beam that he was going to make a mistake on.

if the ring gave way, then it was probably not gapped right. if you dont gap enough, the ends will butt together. if you gap to loose, you burn oil / have lots of blowby.
you need a custom piston. id suggest wiseco hd2, but you're gonna need to wait on them regardless, since its not a off the shelf piston.
now if you had 153mm rods then you could get a off the shelf stroker piston, but you dont.
I am building two 2.2's right now, the one im gonna use first is using the 4g63 block with 153mm rods. gives a nice rod ratio + nice displacement. IMO the best option to exist for our cars, but comes with a big price tag.
I agree, I was planning to build this for my car but the price over a built 2.0L I just couldn't justify for my power goals.
short rod 2.2L with custom piston with the wristpin moved up 3mm.

The car is actually being opened today.
I was thinking of getting a 4G64 block and use a 88mm crank and 150mm rods . I am keen to use the stock crank and my Aluminium rods and 87mm pistons. Any idea where I can get the desired pistons and is Manley that Bad

Or
Should i just use my 94 mm crank and use my k1 162mm rods and get 87mm pistons.
Ay suggestions ?
This is gonna be a drag car and I am using 6466 precision motor.

You can contact with Tom (tscompusa) for your project and him can get your parts for your project.

with a 94mm crank i wouldnt go higher then 159mm rods on a 4g64 otherwise you are moving the wristpin way to high.
why not keep what you have? the 4g63 with a 94mm crank and 150mm rods then get another custom piston made but this time by wiseco. an HD2.
a stock 4g63 crank can handle 1000whp+
Who told you that? 90% of 2.1 setups that i've seen are on a drag cars if thats what you plan on going for. 2.4 is the best DD IMO. The guys i've seen on 2.1 setups are the ones with huge turbos reving to 10,000 RPMs. I love my 2.4 and the TQ is instant
the only combination id run 162mm rods in would be a 88mm crank and 4g64.

The Manley pistons I was using was the cause, lucky on,y the pistons were damage and. Bearings showed some signs of damage,
I would ,Ike the Wiseco and what you and John Bradley have asked me to use. And idea of the CP Pistons that is readily available ! Is it good enough .
I am using the 6466 turbo with Motec Ecu,
I would need the car to boost around 35 PSi to 40 Psi with C16 Race fuel.
Thanks

nvm i just saw that its going to be a drag car lol
