Even cheaper Waterpump alternative than Gates.. AC Delco.

Just got this in to try for a customer.

It only cost a little over $30.
Which is much better than the OEM price for $200.

The flange where the pully mounts is a little thicker, but all dimensions are correct. comes with o-ring and gasket too.

I've installed Gates pumps in the past for customers, just wanted to share some info.

Part number: 252-891
GM #19195150

Sorry, one of the pictures is sideways

the center bore where the pulley mounts seems likes it may be an issue, but you say the waterpump pulley goes on just fine? Do you know what application for GM that is for? That's interesting that a GM water pump fits a Mitsubishi, thanks for the info.

Yeah. Pulley goes right on. Funny thing was that someone went and searched at rock auto.com and it was there cheaper than the gates one.

I love rockauto.com lol cheapest parts by far! I installed an ACdelco water pump on a customers car recently (ie he ordered it off of Rockauto, and brought it in). It's been running strong for almost 10k now . I'll report back if he has any issues.

I have one question though. Same as TommiM 's.. Does this ACdelco water pump cross reference another WP for a GM vehicle? Or is this just a ACdelco replacement, for a Mitsu vehicle?

Thanks

Amazon Amazon

I'm guessing the ACDelco parts manufacturing saw a demand and made it.
They do this for some other cars too. They can make it and still make money, which is crazy....

Tried this pump on an 04 Lancer Ralliart. Installed 1/18/2014. Water pump started leaking on 2/16/2014.

Tech confirmed AC Delco part was defective. Tested with Snap-on coolant pressure tester and leaked at 19 psi.

Replaced with Gates water pump which looked to be of better quality.

I had a thread on here comparing the ac delco waterpump to an oem evo 8 one. The ac delco was different in certain areas, I don't have data to prove any of it was inferior, just different. The beefier flange for the pulley is a plus imo. I have had mine on for a few months now, put about 2k miles on it, tuned at 314 hp on a mustang dyno. I pressure tested my system for preventative measures to verify all is good with a snap on tester, at about 18 psi. No leaks at all.

I'm all for using oem parts, but for a fraction of the price, the ac delco is nice alternative.

I would use GMB water pump.

I think EVO pumps are made in Japan.

Part number 148-1780 for EVO 8

Did you use the gasket that came with the ac delco pump or did you use an oem gasket? I would only use the oem gasket, there is quite a difference between the ac delco and the oem gaskets, one which looked like it could cause a potential leak in its design. Im using the ac delco pump, with an oem gasket, no leaks as of yet

Used the AC Delco gasket. Also, just want to reinforce the Technician though the Gates water pump looked to be of better quality.
