built evo 9 engine going into evo 8? ( help please!)

hey guy so this is the deal, my little brother owns an evo 8 basiclly stock. his GF's mothers boyfriend's ( yes i said that, stay with me here) boss owns a shop an they have had a build evo 9 engine an some other little goodies laying around for prolly 2 years now and he got a good deal for everything. now we dont know what kinda build it is yet but it has a AMS intake mani, AMS header with percision turbo (size unknown yet) percision injectors (size unknown yet) we know its a 9 engine cause it has the nice MIVEC on the top of the VC and we are assuming it is built from the size of the turbo and taking the shop owners word for it ( but he doesnt know any of the engine build specs cause he got the car in off of a trade) we will be tearing down the motor soon to find out what everything is inside of the engine an if its built or not.

so my question is what is it gonna take to get that 4g64 to run inside is his car? or should we just use the block (if built) and put a built 4g63 head on it?
(yes i've searched the forums and didnt really find anything to help me with this)

It's not the block so much to worry about, but its the head. To run a MIVEC head in an VIII you need an IX ecu because the VIII ecu doesn't have MIVEC parameters in it and there is also an extra cam gear sensor connection with a MIVEC head, so you'll need a wiring harness from an IX also.

In all seriousness, if it is doable, it would likely be simpler to put a non mivec head on the motor and toss it in the VIII that way rather than install the IX ecu, wiring harness, etc.

Either swap an VIII head onto the block or get a IX ecu and wiring harness...

I was trying to find info on the head swap, we have an 8 head that we can swap it with but which timing belt do we use the 8 or the 9? or is it just as easy as ya'll said just swap the heads?
