I had 8 Leg QM clutch. It was noisy as hell. I will be installing Exedy Triple in next few months. I bought Triple HR for 2.4LR build.

One other nice thing about a pull clutch is that when the clutch is in it actually pills the engine and transmission together vs trying to push them apart. It helps prevent loose bolts from breaking clutch plates and bell housing

What was your experience with the exedy tripple?

My QM was good to me before my car died but I'll be re-using the same clutch in my next Evo. The 8leg wasn't quick to need to be rebuilt I thought?

I bought my car with the triple in it. I got the car cheap because the clutch needed a rebuild so I couldn't really tell you what its like. I'm debating whether to rebuild the triple or try something else...

From what i heard about the QM clutches is that their old design didnt have a solid hub for discs to sit on. Now that they have this new design i believe they are doing alot better. I am in the same boat whether to do a QM twin or exedy triple. By time im ready for the clutch the car should be dynoing around 900whp so its a lil more above avg. for your standard evo

You are talking about the 8leg?

I have over that on my car and its been ok thus far.

Hi all,
had a lot without going through this post I made, I have to tell, that in the end decided I bought the 8 LEG QUARTER MASTER TWIN DISC RACE 5-Speed Hydraulic TOB (Street version), I have to say that is an excellent clutch a little noisy but when its performance is very good. Unfortunately it only used 430 miles, because I decided to sell the car because i purchase another evo with lot of performance like new and it have a Carbonetic Tripple Carbon like new. So i dont will use the QM clutch.
Even I have the clutch almost sale here in the forum. It cost me around USD $ 1,850 dollars and sell it for only USD $ 1.300. The clutch still need 70 miles to complete the break-in.
This is the sale link if someone is interested:

Also im selling a Power Fc djetro and HKS camshaft here:

exedy twin is the hands down best street clutch for mild to moderate builds...

clutches handle tq.. not hp. What tq will you be making? 2.0? Takes a lot to get 450+tq from a 2.0.. but 500whp is certainly possible.

I agree with xRoguex... Run exedy twin. It will handle 550hp very well and last a good amount 35-50k depending how you drive and is less noisy than my Quartermaster 8-leg. I loved my exedy twin but can't shift has fast or hold the power a Quartermaster will and the tripple is just too dang heavy imo.

I've been running my QM twin 8 leg for a few thousand miles now and can say this clutch is a lot more harsh/noisy than the exedy triple. For a street driven car it is a little much. That being said it is a dream to launch and seems to be holding up really well so far.
