Exedy Triple Plate Clutch vs Quartermaster Twin disc
Getting an exedy triple put in my tre 5 speed. For my power goals we decided to go with the exedy even though the qm was suggested by Cisco at strictly modified. 6266 on built 2.0 so I hope its going to be ready for some high rpm shifts.
Going to QM 8 leg Street I'm replacing another triple after 3 months for both clutches. The HUB seems to be flawed and its killed both my kits discs. In lived my twin but after 550ft/lbs of torque it died on and multiple launches. Exedy Twin for mild builds IMO I'll see what the QM does soon.
I just upgraded my exedy twin to triple. I loved the twin, launched like a rocket. It had some noise but didnt bother me, pedal pressure was not much heavier than stock. If the triple is anything like the double, which I assume it will be since nothing really changed besides the addition of another plate, then I will be happy. Car was about 400ft/lb and I expect it to be at about 550ft/lb now.
I'm putting down 513WHP/490WTQ... been on a Exedy twin for about 5 years now, actually just had to replace the original one I put in this year. I got about 45K out of the first one, same power the whole life. Some say its noisy but I don't find that it is, maybe the first few hundred miles if your slipping it you'll hear it other then that I don't hear it much. Not like its a crying baby under the car all the time and making that much power your car will be loud enough to counter any small noise you might hear.
Alright bumping this up.
Who running the QM 8 Leg is on a 2.3?
And if you are on a 2.3 with the QM 8 Leg did you ever run into any clearance issues?
My brand spankin new QM 8 Leg (purchased in 2011) is slipping.
I suspect its the HRB requiring negative clearance. In other words its riding on the clutch plate fingers. Even created a little grove in the shape of the bearing around the clutch fingers.
