Blue Printed Transmission W5M51
Blue Printed Transmission W5M51
Finally Finished, Long wait for the gears to come back from being Treated.
Finished the specs Using two Differents Applications for bearing preloads and calculations.
Objective - Minimize Shaft Give on output shaft while not premature wearing the bearings. The App actualy has a Bell Curve for this. I was .002 more on the Rigid side over the Longevity side on the output shaft. I was at .001 for the final drive.
Eliminating all Input Shaft Endplay wasnt possible due to the fact i was either going to preload them or have .001 because of the Avalible Spacers from Mitsubishi. Id rather not Preload those bearings. So here are my specs for everything, I had to measure it all out then order the stuff from mitsubishi.
Everything is nice and tight little better them OEM spec to keep things rigid. everything spins Perfectly
I used the solder method, and did it twice to remove any inconsistancys
Reason for rebuild - New Center Diff being installed, Inspec after 1k miles since rebuild and correct notchy 1st and reverse.
Also having top of bellhousing Welded to correct a Hairline crack found when cleaning.
Weld came out perfect.
Front Input end bearing [Endplay] .001
Rear Input End Bearing [Endplay] .002
Input Rear bearing Case End play [endplay] .001
OutPut 5th Gear [Endplay] .003
Final Drive Backlash .008 [brand new]
OutPut Bearing PReload .22
Center Diff PReload .13
Output Shaft 3rd Gear End play .07
Output Shaft Bearing Endplay .02
Final Drive Gear Torque Spec 96 Ftlbs Red locktight used.
Most important numbers being input and output shaft bearing endplay and preload.
