New to the evo game just have a question about the knock sensor, i just bought this car not to long ago so just trying to get up to speed on the the evo stuff im have a problem when im in gear and pass 3000 rpm my check engine light blinks at me and even when i at a stand still and i rev it passed 3000 rpm it does the same thing the guy who i bought if from says that it might be a phantom knock that when vibrations disrupt the knock sensor so im just wanting to get as much info on that issues as i can and how could i fix that? They guy told me that the software that he is running on the car is evoscan and evoflash. Any feed back would be great

 

Evoscan is for logging and ecuflash is for editing and reflashing the ROM. The ROM is the software the car is running on.

The knock you are seeing may be real. If it is it could damage the engine. Maybe it is time to get to a good tuner.

 

Could be bad gas but most likely you;re seeing knock. Plug it in and check it out or take it to a shop asap

 

with any car when the check engine light flashes it means its misfiring. Engine shakes? seems like its gonna stall? and driveability issues othe than the light?

 

No the engine does not shake or seems like its going to stall picks up good just after 3000rmp the light flashes but thats about it.

 

That sounds like the Tephra V7 ROM. Ask the previous owner if it was flashed with a Tephra Mod v7 ROm. It has settings ti flash teh CEL if knock occurs Slow flash is a knock count of 3 and fast flashes are knock >6

For sure you will need to have the tune checked out as it is knocking.

 

I would suggest staying out of boost as much as possible and then putting in a fresh tank of quality premium fuel, also finding someone who can read the tune on the car and check the timing. How much boost is the car making?
