HELP! My o2 sensor is wrecking my tune or something.
I got a tune from Tom TSComp 6 months ago, got really good power. I’ve added an ETS exhaust manifold, FMIC, fic 1100 injectors, spoolinup cop and Invidia o2 housing since then and decided to get another tune from Tom.
I screwed up my front o2 sensor cutting the cables to lengthen them for the 02 sensor position on the Invidia o2 housing so I bought a new one as recommended by Tom (Denso 234-4741).
After I fixed an exhaust leak problem and added a new AEM wideband (my Innovate wasn't working correctly) Tom finally got a tune onto my car.
Since I put that tune on, which was at the same time as the new o2 sensor and AEM install, I've been having an issue with a weird popping/misfire sound and feel from my car. The engine feels like it got a major misfire with the exhaust note skipping every few seconds and the revs going up and down maybe 100rpm, this is at idle or revving the car, I can feel the car surging slightly when driving on partial throttle.
I tried changing the plugs, putting my oem coils back on and reflashing a older rom that was working fine, all to no avail.
Tonight I was thinking about what I had changed and I decided to unplug the new Denso front o2 sensor I had installed. As soon as I did that all the misfiring stopped, plugged it back in and it all started again.
The o2 sensor is doing something so the car is getting some form of signal from it, it's just screwing up the fuelling, timing or something. I've asked Tom about this, can't imagine it's his tune, he hasn't had a chance to get back to me yet but I thought I'd put it out to the EvoM guru's. Any ideas on what could be happening.
