Quick question about GSC R2 cams and valve springs.

I'm pretty much dead set on buying a set of R2 cams. I have a set of Manley springs and titanium retainers installed, will these springs get the job done with a 12.1mm lift?

usually manufacturers have a spec sheet with their cams/springs and the spring specs should tell you the seat pressure and allowable max cam lift with their springs before coil bind. so either call up manley or check their website.

im used to supertech springs in everything since they list clearly all that data.

I will check it out. I will sell the Manleys if I need to with a low 2100 miles on them.

With the amount of lift the R2 cams you really need to know what the seal to Bottom of the retainer clearance is.

Is there somewhere on a springs spec sheet that can give me an answer? It shows that the max lift is. 0580" on my Manley singles which is in the 14mm range but at this point, if I have to swap springs, it's a no go.

it's the retainer that contacts the seal... i havent seen published retainer to stem seal or guide clearance before contact.

99% of the time, vendors quote coil bind dimension / max lift. i made a similar mistake of going to the supertech's that offered a load of lift before coil bind, yet my retainer to seal clearance was only ~11.5mm

until mr. retainer played with mr. cutter

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread did not want to spawn a fresh one

What about S2 cams and Manley springs/rets? Part number MANLEY 26125?

Will they work? Cannot find any referenced data so asking about known setup.

Yes, I have a set of Tomei 270s coming in the mail that have quite a bit more lift than S2s.

Think so, it says max lift is .550 inch and max lift of the cam is 12.10mm on the intake side which converts to .48". You should check the retainer to seal clearance once installed before you fire it up. Looks like you are ok with coil bind as well.
