Well, this is frickin' lovely

So I picked up this latest evo with a gazillion miles on it, it has a "new" engine in it from a wrecked car. Car was totaled with 29k on it, and engine was swapped in 50 miles prior to purchase so Yay, right?
Well apparently it was one mother impact on that thing. I new that the bell housing flange on the front was cracked which didn't surprise me at all, however I've been fighting this light stumble on occasion at idle trying to figure out what it was. I knew of a few vacuum leaks and each time I fixed one it seemed like there was another until I ran out of leaks to fix.
Yeah well apparently this baby got pushed right into the firewall; one of the accessory bosses on the back of the manifold is torn slap the fak out. It's attached, but theres a good 1" long tear on one side of the boss and about 1/2" on the other. Frigging awesome.

Who was asking about buying evos on the cheap at auction? Yeah, here's a risk

I'm sure someone will just about give you a stock intake to replace that one. No big deal!

I'm hemming and hawing again.
I'm going to pack it for right now with some marine epoxy until I determine what I want to do. I'm guessing manifolds are plentiful, though

Ya ya, thanks guys... I saw one in FS real cheap already, plus I 've had two people reach out with offers too.... I've got manifolds out the ying yang if I need them! It's patched for right now and I'm going to try to decide if I want to go with another OEM or go to an aftermarket manifold.... I've got a bad habit of buying on impulse then changing my mind before the parts even arrive, so I'm going to hold out before I buy anything yet.
Thanks again though everyone that's volunteered, you guys are great.

lol, it's really not bad at all, its just the photo. There is a white discoloration on it and a clean mark that makes it look cracked straight through, not sure what it's from, but there is zero physical damage at all, as well it reads perfectly too. I about freaked out when I looked at the picture I took too, but on inspection after popping the TB loose it is unscathed.

Ya ya I know!
I was pissed when I looked at the pic full screen, it's good though. The fine black line is just a clean mark across the white discoloration, and the part that looks like a corner missing is just a weird angle of the lower flange.

Snap, bookmarked it goosey, thanks. If it is still around if/when I decide on another stocker, I'm on it. Patch is currently holding 25 psi without issue, so it isn't critical yet
