Timing belt help????

I'm needing to change my timing belt soon and going to try to do it myself. Wondering what exactly do I need as in parts to change it out? Would I just need the timing belt or do I need the timing belt as well as the balancer belt? Any help would be great. Also I'm looking to get the AEM Tru Time cam gears since I'm going to replace the belt might as well change the gears too. I'm on a stock head. Thanks you guys

Also the tensioner to go along with whats said above me, make sure all the marks are lined up and the balance shaft is in the right position via the bolt on front of block, theres 1 or 2 good DIY threads on here how to do it n theres a sticky on gettin the parts cheaper by buyin GATES parts instead of from the stealership. Just make sure the helt tension is not too tight or too loose once the tensioner settles and after you spin it over

Order the Timing Kit from Mitsubishiparts.net, it will have everything you need at a lower price.

its pretty easy, and the only time you need someone to help is when timing the cam gears, unless you have the tool or you know how to prop them into place using wrenches (theres a picture of this in the following thread)

cheapest place i found the parts were Amazon, unless you have a friend who gets a shop discount. You also may want to consider deleting your balance shafts while you're in there, its more labor but the BS eliminator kit is like $20 more than a balance pulley and belt, and its one less thing to go wrong in your engine.

There are a couple of good How To links i used to change my timing belt several times.

I used this one below, and another one from EvoMoto...can't seem to find that link.... I would make sure you have the special timing belt tools as it will make it a lot easier!!!

Timing Belt Tool Kit

Take your time and read the instructions several times BEFORE even busting out the jack. Make sure you have all the parts you need. Go OEM but if you are on a budget, you can buy these parts that work!

Timing Belt Parts on a Budget

I would make sure you have an entire weekend just in case you hit a snag and need to hit the parts store once or twice or ... more!

Good luck!!

Thanks you guys. That's all good advice. I was told that on the Evo 9s I can only replace one gear. That the other gear is the mivec gear and that I couldn't replace that. Is it true?
