Quartermaster 6 Leg

ok guys, im having lockout issues with it alrdy with only 500 miles. im starting to feel that I should have bought the quartermaster 8 leg race. but ive herd that its possible to buy the newer style gear driven disc for the 6 leg now will that be a improvement over the older style disc? has anyone done it? I cant powershift this clutch for the life of me.

if your car is for street aplication go with 8leg, the 6leg only has race flywhee so is not very good for street driving... i bought this 6leg clutch for my evo and i turn back to my old carbonetics after 1500miles for that reason.

The QM 6leg is great for race aplication only IMO...

That wouldn't be why he's having lockout issues, that's just street driveability .. the 6 leg is just slightly harder to drive around town with. I've had the old and new.

My first guess is something isn't adjusted right or your synchro's suck

Either your syncros are junk or the clutch isn't releasing all the way. I've had the 6-leg flywheel/PP in my car for nearly 4 years now and not had lockout issues.

My guess would be the clutch dragging, assuming you have the hydraulic TOB your clutch pedal is probably adjusted in a manner that it doesn't stroke the TOB far enough. This sound's like what's going on.

A good test to see if it drags it to put the car completely up on jack stands have it running and then have the clutch in and go through the shift gates. If the wheels turn, the clutch isn't letting go.

All that said,

You can buy the gear-drive disks from the 8 leg and use them with your 6 leg flywheel/PP(that's what I'm using right now). The gear drive disks are much better, less rattle noise with the clutch in and they're easier on the input shaft and they last longer since with the 6 leg the hubs will interfere with each other before the friction material wears down much. Depending on your setup, you could go with the street version of the disks that are more friendly on engagement too. IMO the gear drive disks from the 8-leg have better driveability in every way vs the 6 leg floating disks.

That was the best clutch I ever had. I inherited it with 30k on it and put 40k more on it and if not for the shop that installed it wrong and killing it I would've rebuilt it and still been using it.
