Competition Clutch stage 2 or stage 3.5????

If you have ran one of these clutches or both, I would like to know the pros and cons of both. Car is currently at 470whp and plans are to get to 500whp. Car will be daily driven more than likely and driven spiritually for the most part. Very little drag racing, and some mountain driving. Just want the one which will last longer. I have heard good on both and heard the stage 2 is good as well but the rating is fairly close to my power. Im leaning toward the 3.5 right now.

The clutches are rated on torque numbers instead of horsepower. If you are on stock block I recommend the Stage 2.

made 380wtq on a slipping clutch. still a 2.0 with wiseco pistons manley rods, and manley crank. BC 272's. Precision 6262 on ems goal is 500whp.
Tq will be pushing close to the stage 2's limit. But Im still considering.

After getting the stage 2. I think I should have just went with the 3.5. I DD and the stage 2 is very easy to drive, there is a small amount of chatter on steep hills but I can drive it pretty much like stock. The extra power capability of the 3.5 and being able to handle some launches I think would be worth the little extra driveability you would lose.

I believe the stage 2 HD is rated to 425-450wtq. If you're going with E85 with your built motor, it'd probably be safer if you go with stage 3.5.

If you're staying on pump gas, definitely check out the new stage 2 HD unsprung. I have the stage 3.5 on the stock block with a dbb Red (450whp/390wtq) on pump gas and sometimes I wish I went with the stage 2 HD instead. I love the feel of the clutch and I'm perfectly adept at driving it but other people that drive my car sometimes have a hard time driving it smoothly with the clutch/lightened flywheel combo.

If you're not looking to drag the car every weekend, I believe the newer Competition clutches are very hard to beat especially for the price. For reference I had an ACT and QM twin.

Im pretty much set on the 3.5 I would like to have room to grow in power with one. How is the stage 3.5 with the lightened flywheel Which would be my setup compared to a 6 puck? My 6 puck was ok but I never got completely used to it.

Keep the info coming ordering tommorow.!

I have the 3.5 and like it a lot

Works great for a DD. Makes a little noise when feathering it thru traffic/up hills. I would recommend a resurfaced OEM flywheel.

525/402, stock block VIII, OEM flywheel.

(An unsprung 2 would work well too)

Definitely stage 3! My CC stage 2 only lasted 8 months, pushing roughly 415 hp and 400 tq. I have never taken it to a track, I have launched it a handful of times, and a daily driver and was toast! I am at 255 miles on my stage 3 break in and love it. Be sure to use the red line cocktail for the tranny, much cheaper and smooth. I learned the worst things for a clutch is reverse and first gear to acceleration, those tend to have the most slippage and wear out the clutch the fastest. And of course launches. Hope this helps!

Went with the 3.5 sprung. And the ultra lightweight flywheel from Comp as well.
