differences in 2.3 stroker & 2.4 LR??

my motor built a window sunday night, which means rebuild.
ive been advised by a good, knowledgeable person and evo engine builder/tuner to go with a 2.4 liter long rod motor.

im curious what the big differences are that i will see, and the big/small ones i wont see.
obviously i know i wont have as much torque, but i should be able to make the same hp...right?

if it helps, i have an hta fp green, gsc s2's, kiggly springs, 3.5" ets +piping, stock ported/coated ex mani, ported megan o2, 3" buschur tbe 1450 cc's, wally 255, and dual tune e85/91

A 2.4 long rod is great.

My plan is to go for a 2.3 for a few reasons.
-Not as much of a head gasket issue as a 2.4.
- No water pump brackets.
-No timing changes due to increased deck height.
I also have a spare 4g63 which helps.

ive been informed they now have a water pump with its own gasket, no extra wide 4g63 water pump gasket. and that the cometic head gasket works well.

as for timing...just takes a good tuner/builder

my 2.3 fp green had SO MUCH TORQUE down in 2nd/3rd it was ridiculous.

I mean timing as far as adjustable cam gears and moving them 3.75 degrees to account for the deck height

I think the main difference u will find is that the 4g64 short block is cheaper to source and easier to find.

If you go the Lr you can also rev your motor higher or tho this wont be an issue with the fpgreen i wouldn't think

Out of curiosity, what rods did you have in your 2.3? Also, how did the bearings look?

I Had Manley Rods. Were Syarting To Pull The Motor Tonight. It Was 4Th Cyl Tho. So It Could Be A Lubrication Issue, As Thats Whats Common With That cyl
