To Tune or Not to Tune???

Ok so my question is should I get "real tune" or not. By that I mean going to a tuner and putting it on the dyno too or should I be ok where I am right now with the AP. I have A intake,UICP,LICP, DP, Test Pipe, Catback,MBC, and Cobb AP. Thanks you guys

Sure thing. Especially if you're changing the boost!

Absolutely. I wouldn't even go WOT on my car with all those mods if I was still on stock tune.

You list an AP & a MBC? It's early, but am I missing something? Either way, yes you should get a tune. And just for curiosity which one do you have?

Cobb and the MBC is a Hallman MBC Pro. Oh I should probably mention that I DD my car. it only sees 15 miles a day. And I never track or race my car. Strictly speed limit for me.

Definitely get a tune. The Evo 8/9's ECUs are already tuned to run rich so you can get away with the small stuff like an intake or cat back exhaust, but not with messing with your boost and other things like that. And for the Evo Xs they are more picky with the mods you put on them so your best bet for sure is to get a tune. Especially with what you have on your car right now. I know I would be tempted too much to hit the gas and then feel like crap afterwards knowing that I didn't have a tune and I likely did some harm to my Evo.

get rid of the AP unless you run two fuel maps for E85 / race gas and pump gas

AP's are pretty useless in an evo as the stock ECU is very capable

You can run 2 maps on stock ecu so even then there's still no reason for the AP.

To the OP,

I normal do remote tuning, but I'll be doing a stock IX road tune this weekend. He has less mods than you. I believe there is room for improvement. On your set up I recommend a tune.

And, no you won't need a retune everytime you go in for smog check if it's tuned right.

Raptord,

Can the OP sell the AP for use in a X? Or is it a completely different animal?

I think it can be sold and the buyer will just have to get the maps for the X, but I'm really not sure. never played around with the AP before.
