^ Those would be some loud injectors...

Could also be a sticky lifter or a stubborn rocker arm smacking something it shouldnt..

You misinterpreted what he said.
A lash adjuster is the same thing as a hydraulic lifter,
A hydraulic valve lifter, also known as a hydraulic tappet or a hydraulic lash adjuster.
Sounds to me to be a Lifter.

I gonna say injectors- injectors sound exactly like that but less pronounced as in this video, get the injectors flow tested. Get a long flat head screw driver, while car is running, gently place the flat head on the injector you should hear a rapid and faint close open sequence of the injectors. There is a how to on this forum. I'm thinking your buddies injectors need cleaning. GL

What aftermarket or upgraded lifters are they? GSC ? Some are required to be "bled", while some do not. If that turns out to be your injectors, those are some loud injectors
