Evo 8 Major Loss of Power

Here is my story;

So I do all the maintenance on my evo; the belts, water pump, acd flush etc and I put an exhaust, downpipe, fuel pump, evo 9 dv, licp, aem electronc boost controller, head studs, fp4r cams, and air filter on my 2005 evo and it was tuned at 23 for 340 hp and ran awesome.

A few weeks later the air conditioning goes out. I read on the forums that it is a common thing so i replace one of the washers and it works again. Now the uicp blows off and the tb starts leaking. I then decide to get the tb seals replaced and get my battery relocated to the trunk with a new clutch installed. I now notice that the spool is very slow and it doesnt have good power but in 4th or 5th gear. I also get exhaust in the cabin. I think maybe my egr hose is off, but everything checks out and looks like i may have a leak somewhere around the turbo. Oh crap, so i decide to replace it all, i get a new ported exhaust manifold, injectors, a new bbk turbo, map o2, uicp, and all new gaskets. The tuner tries to tune it and says there is a problem as it is lean or rich no matter how he scales it. something is just not right. The lazy spool is still there and it only goes up to 20 with the controller maxed, we even try a manual to ensure the electronic is not broken but same problem We have checked timing and cannot find any issues. Where do i look next?

sounds like an exhaust leak. use a flexible hose to listen where it is coming from. chances are it is coming from the exhaust manifold.

I did try replacing the exhaust manifold and gaskets but it did not fix the issue. I have no signs of a blown headgasket as oil is clean and no overheating. i did do a compression test with a result of 180,145,150,155.

Did a boost leak check and it came up clean.

Also tried another maf and it made no difference.

Gonna try map sensor and see if that does anything. Thanks for the suggestions

No offense but it sounds like you are approaching this in the wrong manor. I dont know about you but for me money doesnt grow on trees.

Please slow down and do some research first. I dont mean to come across as rude as I am simply trying to help you. For example you said this:

"i may have a leak somewhere around the turbo. Oh crap, so i decide to replace it all, i get a new ported exhaust manifold, injectors, a new bbk turbo, map o2, uicp, and all new gaskets"

Please for the love of god slow down and focus your efforts. Stop and think about the issue at hand. Try and pinpoint specifically what is causing it. Then and only then should you think about replacing said part assuming its broke.

this has transpired over the past year and i know what you are saying. I did some research and found that an exhaust leak around the turbo could definitely cause my performance issues. I took it to the dealer and they would not touch it. I then took it to another shop and they said they would need it for a week and they would take it all apart and replace all the gaskets and see if any parts were needed. I wanted to upgrade the turbo at some point and figured if this was going to fix the issue i was already paying for the labor. i also figured that if there was a crack in the turbo, a crack in one of the parts i did not want the downtime so i took a gamble and lost.

turns out i had a bad map sensor and the high flow cat i put on the car a year ago was clogged. after punching out the cat and replacing the map sensor car is running good. So, check for exhaust flow restrictions.

Hmm just a random opinion when's the last time you boost leak tested the car? I would search there and listen for leaks.
