BTW, I have now put some miles on the new trans and transfer case. This thing shifts like a dream. I have now had Shephard build my trans and now TRE. My initiall impressions are that the TRE TRANS is better shifting trans than the Sheptrans was at this point. We'll see how it holds up.

FYI, I e-mailed Jon from home (instead of my work e-mail) and have been in constant contact with him since, and will be hauling my components up to him next week.
Thanks to everyone who posted stating how recently they have been in contact with TRE. That being said, it seems like a good time to wrap this thread up. I mean, talking about the quality of work seems like it should be on a thread dedicated to that specifically, so people can research for it.
Just my two cents, for what it's worth.

My drivetrain is in his shop being worked on as we speak. I'm looking forward to having it all done, but I'm too old to get excited.
I still can't get a hold of Jon via telephone (his voicemail is still full...I think he intentionally keeps it that way )

Nevermind...he just called me, and it's all done! Now I just have to find the time to get up there to get them, pay for them, and reinstall them. So maybe two more weeks down time
He got done rather quickly, if I do say so. You just have to know what you want when you talk with him. The more up front you are about what services you want done, the quicker he can get down to business.

FYI - I've got about 700 miles on mine now. This thing shifts AMAZING... even at 10,000rpms. No lock-out at all in any gear. This is the first time that I have been able to shift the car at these kinds of rpms and it actually go into gear in 4th gear.

I talked to John on the phone yesterday and must say he is a wealth of knowledge. I easily got overwhelmed and man he's funny as hell to talk to. Down to earth, full of personality and really listens instead of just telling you what he thinks you should do.

T.R.E FTW!!!!

lol nice man, ya it took a email or 2 and then he called me the next day. didnt bother me the slightest considering i couldnt get a hold of another shop i wanted to do business with (will go unnamed). im hoping you will post a review about the trans when u have it back up in the car!

thats insane! 10k rpm shifts! what clutch are you running? im psyched for clean high rpm shifts. i know it has a lot to do with clutch adj but my trans was due for some help.

It's hit and miss ... I missed half my track season last year waiting to get my car ready only because TRE didn't get back to us for over a month, after which we gave up and contacted Shep. No replies, no call backs, nothing.

Then the DSM shootout held up Shep for another month and by the time I got the car back it was October end. I've heard other stuff from folks who call him and get him right away though - so I guess it's just about timing. :|

I went with jacks they do pretty good work and the downtime was ultra quick I don't even deal with other shops.

I havent heard anything good about TRE.
Only well known people having failures because clearances were too loose..

And as for not being able to contact them, how unprofessional is that for a business?

But Im in to hear more feedback

I've never heard of this before in my life, and I have called them several times throughout the day to get a hold of them and have reached John plenty of times.

Morning is the best time to reach him, I called him 3 times with questions on my T-case he has Thursday morning, he answered evertime.

I second this!! This is the best damn trans hands down in any mitsu I've been in!! I have never been locked out of gear. As a matter of fact my TRE stage 4 shifts better as I go up in rpm. It's crazy. Its shift to my 9.5k redline and my 10K rev limit with ease!! I'll be raising the redline to 10k and the redline to 10.5k this week!! It may be a tad hard to get ahold of him sometimes but he is not impossible to reach and always professional.

I have had at least 6 transmissions (both DSM and EVO) done by Jon. I have a transmission, transfer case and rear end in my Evo that Jon did. He is meticulous, the most experienced, and uses equipment that no other tranny rebuilder has. He's the best, period. That said, you should know that he's in graduate school now, too. If you want a quick job, or a cheap job, look elsewhere. If you demand immediate call backs, look elsewhere. Your loss. If you want a transmission that does what you want better than any others, learn to be patient. You'll be happy you did.
