trying to save some $$$

hey guys, i purchased my car with a cat back exhaust and that is all.. so its just a stocker power wise, due to the cat back it hasnt been tuned and it has a nasty boost spike cut. im looking at selling the car in a few months and didnt want to spend to much money on it to get rid of this spike. i am aware you can buy some sort of managment plug in to the map sensor to stop this spike by increasing the boost cut to a level i woulnt reach. so it wont cut out on me when boosting. approx $500 for this unit i am told... is it somthing i can fit or does it need to be fitted by an auto elec/machanic and tuned. i am no good with electrics.... haha

or

get a front pipe and new dump pipe and send it to get it tuned for around $1200 resulting in the car having approx 220kws at the tyres thus doubling my power, new bov 2 stage boost solinoid bigger fuel pump..

doing this would also help sell the car obviously thus having more power and resulting in more fun for the new buyer

your thoughts???
chris

I'm not sure how the market works down under, but here a stocker seems to be worth more than a car that has a lot of mods done to it.

Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part stock cars sell for more, especially if the mileage is low.

If you're talking about a built engine and a lot of well chosen parts, then I can see it selling for more, but not more than what you spent.

Anyhow, I can tune the car at whatever mods you have for maximum power with reliability as the main concern.

the only reason i want to get it tuned is to get rid of the the boost spike as when you drive it its like somthings wrong with the car like a problem so i dont want to spend a heap of money
