422whp/365tq Stock block PTE6262

Well long story short. Bought my evo from a member on the forums here. I was told the car was in perfect running condition and compression was perfect. I flew out to purchase this car all the way to Boston ( I live in Iowa ) I flew down and drove the car back 1456 miles without issues!! Next day car wouldnt start up. After the car sat for a few weeks I was upset about it and had to get it running again. I contacted a few shops and out of all them the closest shop was Boostin Performance. I towed my car out there and had them work on it.

After taking the head off they found out real bad damage to the block.
11k later my car is finnaly running.

Tuned by Devin at Boostin Performance.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune . Those are some solid numbers on a mustang dyno , the car must rip. This tune was on 93 oct? So what type of damage did the engine have?

She gets up and goes

and yess car was tuned on 93 pump at only 25psi

When the head was taken off all pistons had damage. Piston #4 had chunks missing. All of the rings were complete ****. One side of the block was surfaced down so bad that the head gasket could not seal up.

Man that sucks. I remember when you first got your car and posted it , I also recall you had a problem with the water turning to ice in your spark plug holes. Well its good to hear your car is running like a beast now. I see that you have a new oem block, since you had it all opened did you go with some nice forged pistons and rods?

It was doing the same thing before the water incident and I could never figure it out. Came out to be the motor had no compression what so ever. Unfortunently I did not. Went with a new OEM block. Replaced all seals/gaskets through out the whole motor. Re did the head. Brand new water pump, oil pump. And so on. All timing components replaced. I daily drive the car so I didn't want to go with a full bottom end build. Majbe down the road when I get used to this power

I will make a new thread about the build sometime tomorrow.

Heads up to anyone double check the car your buying and do not jump into something sketchy.

This. It seems to be pretty common with these kinds of cars... people get sick of the maintenance, run it into the ground and then sell it to someone else so that they can deal with it. Sucks that you had to go through that, but good to see that you made the best of it and you can put down some awesome numbers now

Yeah its kinda sad. But I learned my lesson. I thought I got a steal of a deal being a low mileage MR with some goodies on it.

Do you have any pics of the DTT upper IC pipe? It looks like one that I would like to pick up.

^^ That and I bet the previous owner took some stuff off before selling and never adjusted the tune for it. Typical problem.

I'm on nearly the exact same setup but without cams. I made 422 but it was on a dynojet and was told I'd be at 450 with s2's. You'd probably be at 450 on a dynojet right?

How do you like the 6262? I like mine quite a bit. A little laggy but not too bad.

OP, how did you handle the engine issue with the previous owner? I realize car sales are as-is, but did you inform the previous owner of the issues? What was the outcome?

I don't know if the op ever contacted the previous owner but I believe the op has sold this vehicle at the beginning of the year. He hasn't posted in quite some time.
