Clutch questions

So I am honestly just really curious as to what kind of power some of you were making before you had to replace the stock clutch in your evo? I bought my evo not to long ago and plan on getting it tuned with some bolt ons next month, but I am not sure if I have a stock clutch or not. Nor am I sure of how much wear it might have. Any feedback would be greatly apprecitated.

What are your goals as far as power goes?

My first goal is 500whp and from doing some research, I found that my personal pick would have to be an Exedy Twin Disk HD. I guess it all really boils down to what your power goals are and what your willing to spend.

I'm at 80k miles on my evo, still on stock clutch. I've been around 350 wtq for the last 3 years, done about 15 "real launches" (ie drag racing) and 30 lighter launches (for autocross). Still holding just fine.

Well I am hoping to be around 350 whp when I go get tuned next month. I don't have any issues spending money on a good clutch, but I just kinda want to know what to expect from the stock clutch until I can pick up a new one.

Assuming the PO took care of the clutch and you can do the same, you shouldn't have any trouble for a good while at 350whp.

Awesome! That's really what I was hoping for. What clutch would you recommend to replace it with? I know there are a lot of options.

I don't see a reason to replace it and lose driveability as long as it's holding your power and not slipping.

I really enjoy driving the Competition Clutch 5152-2100. Very inexpensive and has been great so far.

It really varies from place to place. Sometimes it's what you pay for is what you get and sometimes it's not. I'd recommend doing some research on reputable shops in your area that got great reviews. At least then you know that your car is getting done right you know? Anyhow though, what prices are you getting quoted for?
