Quick question for those of you that are running dumptubes out of the hood vent
I swore I saw someone that came up with a solution for this type of setup when it comes to a having a flapper/cap/valve to protect from rain and posted a pic or something a while ago but I can't find it.
As for the comments about if its smart/dumb/ricer/etc to do it.....I already know the pitfalls. I did this to fix another problem I was having and I needed the space running the dumptubes upwards created.
Any pics or better links to sites where you purchased your solutions would be very much appreciated.

The biggest issue I've seen is when its been plummed off a stock frame setup, the tubing needs to make a 180 degree bend to point upwards out of the hood. I've seen a couple of guys with this setup and I personally wouldn't ever run that setup on my car. If it's a turbo kit with an open wastegate its much simpler to route it upwards through a small piece of pipe and it avoids any nasty bends.
I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking for or looking for but it seems a bolt up factory style hood dump?
Although I'm pretty sure you have a FF with hood dump no?
Anyway if so ARDesign factory o2 Hood Dump
And of course I know Collin (ToxicFab) surely can
if not.. my bad lol

Yeah I'm still running FF but between it being a T4 and the manifold design running a beefier fan/shroud setup was an issue.
blackendwings I REALLY didn't want to run the dumptubes this way but right now my car runs alot better with the beefier fan on so.
We flipped the position of the wastegates 180 so instead of it pointing downward its basically up with a slight bend.
While waiting for some replies I have been looking for ideas from everything from big rigs to marine solutions. I think I found something that will work AWESOME. I just forwarded some of my ideas to DrivenFab and I'm waiting for his response. If this works I'm sure there will be some interest from people who want to do it because it looks cool.
I personally could care less but like I said my car temps are down and is with my AC working so this is a minor inconvenience.
It also helps that with the dumptubes in their original position (routing downward) kept breaking. Even after welding them together towards the bottom (even lost a dumptube somehow some way). When we took them off it cracked again so running this way is not just helping with running my fan setup but also with the design so I can stop cracking dumptubes.

My question was for the people who said they can run a cap/plate/flapper that will open when the wastegates are routing exhaust gas out of the pipes if they can post pictures or ideas.
I'd been looking on and off for a few days but I finally found something today that may work. I swear I saw a picture of someone who's done something like this already. I just wanted to see if anyone has actually done it that has the dumptubes coming out of the hood vent

Didn't realize I didn't post the crux of the question. Been a busy day. My bad.

Ahh ok I ad a feeling that is what you were trying to ask. I do recall seeing a picture with exactly that. IIRC the car was a petty bright color. Not sure where that picture resides however. Anyway here is a good place to start. Not sure the diameter of your dump tube but maybe the 1.5" will be small enough http://store.airflo.com/exhaust-rain-caps.html
Hey smurf i myself run a stock location turbo hood dump i just put a cup over it when i wash the car as for getting stuck in rain which doesnt happen often but when it does just goose the car alittle bit and itll look like a whale blow hole haha but anyways heres a solution somebody ran on his car hes on forums but cant remember his name

Yeah thats what I'm talking about. I think I saw it on a white car. And the post wasn't about him but he was posting to prove it could be done I think.
I've seen some solutions but either they look ugly or they are too big. I need to measure the diameter of the dumptubes but I think they are about 1.5 or 1.75.
Like I said I think I found something that will work and look clean but I have to order some materials and make it happen.
