first time engine build

Okay guys, so I have a couple of questions for an engine build. First here is my story; I was on a long drive 7-8 hours and with only an hour left the car wasn't getting into boost so initially I thought an ic pipe had popped off. Got over and noticed oil on the right front rim. The drain plug to the crankcase had came out . Anyway I got the car home and I am currently in the process of pulling the motor and tranny out. Once I send it off to the machine shop, what kind of news should I prepare for? Obviously there is some sh*t broken like some valves, etc. Should I just go ahead and do a stroker or what? I think I will plan on getting a bbk full or fp red turbo to go along with whatever. Not really interested in huge hp numbers but around 400-450 range will be just fine.

I'm wanting to completely rebuild the car in other aspects other than the engine to make it more versatile in the winter and dirt/gravel roads (basically rally car status) except having a total foot in ground clearance and no interior.

So back on topic, would a stroker kit along with adequate mods and a tune be the right choice for what I have plans for or what route should I take?

okay... its been my experience that if you want a all around performance motor either 2.0 or 2.4 long rod setups are best... in a 2.0 you get the revs to run a larger turbo and sacrifice bottom end. a 2.4 give great stroker style bottom end but the ability to run a long rod allows you to still have a decent rev limit for higher power cams...

i have a 2.3(see below) and i dont like it... my ef4 is to big and lags out more then i like... and then its done... my rpm band runs out at a meager 8-8.5k... no fun...

also depending on how long your plug was out... your bottom end is ****ed... two reasonable rules when build a 4g motor... never cut the crank... and never build a block more then .020 over.. yes both can be done but longevity becomes and issue... i just spend 8k on my build it would be a waste to end it in a year from now.

I understand that about the 2.0 And 2.4 Options but im not in the area that I'll take it to a track because that where sh*t gets broken. i want more low and mid range power & with that said I think I'll go ahead and plan for 0.20.. with that being said, should I even stroke it or just get it bored? Will the stroker make it more reliable vs not doing it? I'm still new to the difference in options so bear with me lol

straight 4g64 or 100mm crank in 4g63 for 2.3 w/ FP HTA Green or Map EF3 is a solid build for your requirements.

Hta green? You can just say green... Hta is a meaning less combination of letters... Also very different in their range... Personally ef2.5 or 3.., greens are a thing of the past... Unless you go ball bearing but they have had so many issues lately i dont like them *** optipns these days
