Hi, i was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas to help me built a stronger transmission without having to buy a shepperd trans.
I have a stock evo 8 5spd trans now.
Im builting a 2.4L now, and should be making 700+hp after its done. But im worrying that my stock trans cant handle it.
2.4L block with manley turbo tuff ibeam and manley 9.0:1 piston, Brain Crower valve spring and retainer, gsc s3,fandanza cam gear, fic 2150cc, ams intake mani, boomba 75mm tb, fuel pressure regulator, spoolin up COP kit, precision 6266 turbo, tial 38mm wastegate, hks hi power exhaust, battery relocated to the trunk, prosport boost gauge 45psi, aem a/f gauge, speed density and omni power map4.
Please pm me if u guys have any ideas on what the least inexpensive way to make this transmission stronger.
Car will be dd car. Not a drag track car. Maybe once in a while i will bring it to the track.

If its a dd and maybe seeing the strip every once and while why does it need to be built. If you know how to drive the car properly then you should be ok. Now if you want to beat on it stop lighto stop light and do crazy 6k launches then you might need to look into a build. Their are plenty of guys that run their stock trannies into the 9s making 700+hp. Most trannies fail from driver not from power. All you should need is a decent clutch if its gonna be driven like most normal peopledrive

I had them do a stage 1 rebuild on my 8 trans. Love it. Shift like butter.
