Leakdown test results leaks out of exhaust ports

I just did a leak down test. 3 cylinders leak less that 5 percent. 1 cylinder leaks 30+%

I took my turbo off and all the air is coming out of the exhaust ports on the head. What is bad? What needs to be changed?

Burnt exhaust valves or cracked head.

So it's not valve seals?

Same problem with mine. It's more than likely exhaust valves. You should pressurize it again and see if you can hear air escaping when you unscrew the oil cap. That could indicate piston rings, which is also what my car needs.

To be sure I would pull the cams. Then if it still blows out of the exhaust the valves are not sealing.

How did you do the test on the cylinder that shows 30%? Are you sure that the valves were shut? If the cam is holding either open, you'll not get a reliable result...

The car has always been running fine. I decided to change cams and turbo. I did the leak done test eithe the exhaust manifold and came out! One cylinder was leaking 30% and I can fell a lot of air coming out of the exhaust port from the head.

What I am asking is whether during the test you rotated the engine so that each cylinder you tested was at TDC on the top of the compression stroke with both valves closed. If you didn't do that, you will have one of both of the valves open when you try to pressurize that cylinder and waste your time...
