Affordable oil lines for FP HTA3586R?
id rather not spend $220 on oil lines from fp because they overprice everything. anyone have and cheaper options that are still of decent quality? i need an oil feed and drain.
and do i have to run it from the oil filter or is running it from the head fine?

I thought about doing the same thing with the oil feed line on my FP Red. I ended up biting the bullet and getting FP's line for 3 reasons.
1. The inline filter housing doubles as a restrictor so you get the correct oil pressure for their bearing. The oil pressure in the head is not consistent especially when driven hard which is why you’ll want to use the oil filter housing.
2. I thought their line would be the right length to route the safest way.
3. Plug and play to work with FP's turbo.
2 & 3 can be summed up as laziness on my part. I was on a tight schedule on bolting everything up and I probably would have located the inline filter in a more accessible place since I keep the undertray on my Evo. Where the filter is located now I remove the front bumpercover every other oil change to replace the element. I have the process down to about 5 minutes so I’m just dealing with it. Someday I may have a local shop make me a custom line or order the supplies from Summit Racing or Goodridge and make my own.

There is no problem feeding a 35r based FP turbo from the head. The only turbos that required the gen 2 oil feed were the red and the black because people were running them FAR beyond their design tolerances. FP even stated this on their site. That being said, you can build an oil feed in -4an for VERY cheap. The most expensive part is the restrictor fitting for the turbo.
I ran the ExtremePSI oil feed and 10an push lock drain kit on my 3586 for a few years. I spent somewhere around $100-$120 for both I think. The feed was from the head with restrictor, the drain was a DYI kit.
Yup. I use ATP because they are a bit closer and I get the parts the next day, but most big shops can get them about the same cost.
I just bought the FP filter and then made my own 4-an line from summit.
