What gear ratios should I use?!
Just curious on what people's thoughts are on what gear ratios to use on a Evo IX for Time Attack and Time Trial. Currently my gearing and final drive is stock. If I decide to get my transmission rebuilt would it be beneficial to upgrade to the Evo 8 3rd and 4th gear?! I know they're a little taller and thats more suited for drag racing but would a slightly taller gear help with racing around a track?! Same question goes for the final drive. Should I go with something like a 4.11 or just leave it how it is. As for tires i'm currently on and plan on racing 255/40/17 Federal 595 RS-R's. Curious to see what gear ratios and final drives other members on here use on their Time Attack and Time Trial cars. Thanks

Also I have been looking up different shops that specialize in Evo 8/9 transmission rebuilds. What can anyone tell me about Jacks Transmissions, ShepTrans, or TRE. I have read good things about all three shops, but does anyone have any other info regarding them?!
Have you checked out the Motor Sports section here on EvoM? I'm sure there are guys over there with more info for you!

I'll pitch in here, as I am preparing to start time trialing with NASA and Extremespeed
I am quiet convinced that Evo 9 5 speed ratios, and Evo 6 speed ratios, are about spot on for the car up to 500whp on Mustang Dyno.
I watched some videos of John Mueller at Willow for example, a tight track, and seems that the 3rd gear does quiet fine on Evo 9 5 speed using stock turbo on E85 and 285's C51 compund Hankook.
On 2.0 liter you can extend the rev limit if you swap spring/retainers and hopefully cams- to increase VE at high rpm: so you can give yourself some room to rev out to 8000-8500rpm without long term issues. And with that save yourself an occasional shift.
I researched 4.11, and I think it becomes relevant at over 500whp for track-application.
The 4.529 is good to have nice drive in the midrange, and with Evo 9 5th gear that is shorter than Evo 8, there is drive and nice gear spacing all the way through top speed.
Hope this helps a little
Hopefully some NASA competitors can pitch in, but I have not seen to many swap gears or go to 4.11.
