2.4 guys, what clutch are you using?

Wanted some opinions, first hand exp, etc on what clutch 2.4 guys are using. I know about the twin and the triple, really am not interested due to price and warping/shifting issues. I want to stay single disc and drivability/streetablility is very important in my selection. I have looked at the comp clutch stage 3.5 but I fear 525 wrtq will not be enough holding power. The motor will be a 4g64 with turbo tuff rods and weisco 1400 HD 9.7 to 1, initially the car will be on 35+ psi from an ef4 to break in, later on I will be switching to a 6266 on probably max 35 psi. Thanks in advance guys!

I'm building a 2.2LR (4G64) and will be utilizing my ACT XTSS from my current 2.0L.

what warping and shifting issues are you talking about? Iv never had any issues with my twin. ill be upgrading to a triple soon because my twin wont be bale to hold the power i want for this coming season. Any single disc clutch is going to be extremely heavy.

I have seen first hand a triple with a warped top plate, wont go in and out of gear easily (only way to get into gear at a standstill is to let the clutch out and push it back in and quickly select first). I have heard from a very reputable shop that they have seen twins and triples develop shifting issues depending on driving habits, and that they have also seen the top plate start digging into the hub. I have also seen a member on here have a similar hub issue. All of this information is enough for me to stay away from a clutch with a $1500-2000 price tag. The second part of your statement is skewed as well, I currently have an ACT HDSS and its 450 wtrq capable and feels almost like stock. Single plate clutches are all different, depending on springs, pressure plate strength, friction material, face surface area, etc. Not being rude, just expressing my opinion about your opinion.

Sadly I dont think the torque rating is high enough. From what I have seen these motors are torque monsters, esp on a stock frame turbo like an ef4.

It's rated for 565 ft-lbs, and I'll be pairing it with a FP Red, so I'm thinking my chances are favorable. What counts against me is I've had it for 50K miles - just under 3 years.

If you adamant about staying with a standard clutch look into the Carbonetics Blade. I had their triple in my last Evo for over 50k and I would still have it if not for improper assembly/install.

If you never launch it a single will probably be fine, if you plan on launching it, prepare to deal with a multi disc clutch.
