Hey All, I just registered and I am amazed at the amount of information on the site!

My first Question: I bouhgt my Evo right at the end of 03. All is well, but the "Service Engine Soon" Light keeps coming on and going off. I have been to the dealer and they reset it, but it still comes on. The dealer tells me that it is a vibration from the Transmission that is setting off the light. So, they want to put in a new trans. I am hesitant to do this, since it will no longer be a numbers matching car after just two months of ownership. Is this a common problem with the Evos? Any and all feed back is greatly appreciated.

well if the dealer is willing to replace the part for free, i would go ahead and do it, unless you attempt to fix it, that problem will never go away.

 

Ask them what the code is, then post it here. There was a rumor earlier about tranny vibrations causing a code but maybe yours is different.

 

just scan the code... I highly doubt it's the tranny...

 

for free let them do it and take the advantage and let them change your clutch as well for free.

 

go to autozone and get the code pulled. then you'll know what the problem is.
