I've always used ACT clutches in all 3 Evo's I've owned with great success. My current Evo IX I just had a new ACT HD clutch installed and its been great. Before this current clutch I had a quartermaster twin disk with a hydraulic tob installed and the plates started giving out after 500 miles (defective and was replaced under warranty) then I got sick of the noise and jerkiness of that set up and went to an exedy stage 2 set up that worked good for about 25k miles. No complaints. Then it was time again for a new clutch so I went back to an ACT which I had always used before but this time I got the HD version and I love this clutch. A lot of ppl talk smack on this forum about ACT clutches and to each their own but I have tried many different clutches and the ACT HD is my favorite by far. Very stock like feel and it engages like a hot knife through butter. Couldn't be happier. But ya as far as what the other guy said, if its already taken apart just replace the damn thing and call It a day. You'll be happy you did while you had the chance to do so. Good luck!!
Thanks for taking a look and the feedback. ACT has offered to inspect the disk and charges 38 bucks for redoing the lining if that is needed/appropriate.
Here are some more pics trying to get different sun light on there to help clear up the images. There seems to be a metal shim or lining between the disk surfaces, and you will notice it doesn't continue to the edge in every location. It is however patternistic, so when you have it in your hand it doesn't look damaged. So my original pic could have a bit of optic trickery in it. I tried to repeat that exact same image outside and couldn't completely.
The FlyWheel is a Gruppe-S flywheel, which is where I bought the kit. That is the only things stamped on it that I could find.
The Pressure Plate is the MB017. I provided some close ups with serial numbers.
