Just installed BC 272 cams. Need some help

I had Brian Crower 272 cams and super tech dual springs and retainers installed the other day. When my friend went to tune it was showing 8+ counts of knock just revving RPMs to 3000. When going into boost the turbo cuts out and the knock count is 26-40. What is going on? Any suggestions would be helpful thanks!

Few details:
06' ix 55,xxx miles
AEM intake, Invidia down pipe and exhaust, Buschur front mount and licp, RC 1200 injectors

I have heard of people getting false knock from noise in the engine bay in general. Is anything running agains anything else?

Did you bleed your lifters when you installed the cams?

The first time he did not bleed them. Started the car noticed some ticking so he took it apart again and checked the timing. Said everything was good. I just drove the car home from the shop, never getting into boost though. Runs rough as hell without a tune...

But he can't tune because of the high knock count...

Were the springs just dropped in? Or measured and shimmed?

Has the head ever been off before and had a valve job?

I had a similar issue, it was caused by the aftermarket retainers.

You put new cams in without a tune and you are running lean causing knock rt? Said you cant tune it because of the knock... BS thats what tuning does.
Stay out of boost and take it to a tuner who can help you.. This is normal for all cam installs. Cams increase flow and therefore effect mixture that can cause knock.

With counts @ 24-40 it's obviously phantom knock (mechanical knock) or otherwise, you would hear it from 3 blocks away.

Sure, but you cant negate the fact that he is lean and indeed that is causing knock with the cam installation that was done.. You need to start somewhere that you know is causing knock and eliminate that as a possible cause---those were the changes the op made. Then we can chase phantom things-- who knows they may go away!

Any way , GL op.

Yea my tuner said we can't tune it yet because my lifters are bad causeimg "false knock". I was told to buy new big bore lifters and this should fix my problem.

When we go to tune and go into boost the turbo cuts off and the check engine light flashes a bunch.
