AMS High Flow Cat

Does this look like the AMS High Flow cat?

AMS has a different look.

Yes, it just has a shield to make it look more like a standard cat.

Wonder where you can get that heatshield. I was told AMS uses Vibrant High Flow cats on them.

That doesn't answer my question.

Just by looking at vibrantly website, I would guess AMS doesn't use vibrant. But I did not see a cell count for the standard metal core cats from vibrant. May I ask why you want to use an AMS high flow cat? You can pick up a Milspec 100 cell or even 200 cell cat and have a shop weld it to a 3 bolt flange like AMS uses.

A friend of mine was selling me one of these that looked like that. Was questioning why it looked different than what AMS had advertised.

I was thinking they didn't use it since the pictures didn't match as well. Tried emailing Vibrant to see if they supply AMS their cats...so far no word from them.

But I was also told they used Vibrant catalytic converters. Can someone confirm.

Well looking closer, the cat core under the shield looks like a different core than the one pictured from AMS, but it could just be your picture quality. Second in the AMS description and picture they mention "unrivaled fit and finish", that to me suggests the piping might get some polishing action. The picture from AMS shows some polished piping as well.

For what it's worth AMS never mentions the use of a metal substrate cat core, so I would assume they're using a ceramic core.

Anyone have a picture of theirs installed or at least a picture of it for their EVO VIII or IX? This seller might be a scammer.

You said a friend was selling you one? Now he might be a scammer? I gave you valid points why it might not be an AMS cat.

You're going to have to call or e-mail AMS and ask if the high flow cats have changed in any way from the picture on their website. It's going to be the fastest way you will get an answer.

It looks like an AMS pipe that had the cat replaced or it was a test pipe that had that cat added. We have never sold a cat that looked like that.

We use Vibrant cats.
