Is there a pc680 sized battery that doesn't suck in winter?
there is also a battery tender that plugs in with a block heater, some may know what that is, it helps keep the volts topped. But a higher cca is best the "civic" batteries are good, up to 680 cca ive seen
FWIW I have had my Buschur racing mini battery in my car since 06 and keep a battery tender on it all the time, I probably only drive my car a few times a month during the winter. It has never giving me a issue starting. Now that I have mentioned this its probably going to take a dump on me now . LOL
yes, this works!
After replacing a mini battery once a year for the last 4 years (4 different brands), I finally built my own battery tray for the Miata AGM battery. Now I don't have to worry about leaving the car for 2 weeks without a battery minder. I'm running a short-route ETS upper IC pipe for a Magnus cast manifold.
Big plus is Autozone always has one in stock.
John-
I just bought this http://shoraipower.com/lfx36l3-bs12-p130 Shorai battery and put it on this past weekend. Its specs are as follows:
CCA 540
Lenght 6.55"
Width 3.39"
Height 6.10"
I installed it on Saturday which makes today day three. The car is garaged but my first cold start was last night after work where is was ~20 and it fired right up. The longevity is yet to be determined but for now I will keep my fingers crossed that this will do the trick.

The Shorai looks like you can just replace the terminals with regular automotive ones, just like on the PC680 versions that come without.
It is one cool battery. Not sure but one of the issues with Lithium are with regard to needing special chargers, as well as not allowing bump starting - at least for some of them ....

im running a civic battery as well in chicago. this winter killed the mini 325 cca battery i was using. it fits with a short route ets upper. you have to hack up the stock tray and run the battery vertical with the long side parallel to the ic pipe.
The dimensions are posted above. The one I purchased is the largest case I believe so they have smaller ones as well. Also it comes with boatloads of different size foam so if the battery is a little too small you can use the supplied foam to essentially make the battery larger.
This is what I used and they worked fine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/XS-Power-586-Brass-Post-Adapters-/310734543521?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item485938daa1&vxp=mtr
Any battery terminal will work as long as you use an M6 bolt. I actually would have preferred posts which were a little "wider" as I really had to clamp down the stock ones pretty good before they would grab. Other than that no complaints.
Correct the posts that work with the PC680 will be perfect.
As to needing a special charger I spoke with tech support over at Shorai and they confirmed that using their special charger helps to "balance" the cells. However he did say that a normal battery charger will work fine as long as it doesnt have a desultation/ pulse mode. The batteries are shipped at ~80% capacity so I used my standard battery charger with is a Die Hard unit nothing special, put it on the 2A and AGM mode which charges it a little slower. After about 30 minutes the LED lit up the the battery was fully charged in which I installed it and it fired up perfectly.

I purchased the FID battery tray that is made just for the Odyssey 680, fitment is great but my positive cable is like 1-2" too short with the ETS short-route uicp.
Maybe I need to try and free up some room with the piping. The battery harness runs below the pipe so coming up to the terminal it's just short
Any tips?

Yeah man I hear you there. Thanks for the responses. I am going to give it another go today after work to see if I can free up some slack by raising the piping from the bottom (getting the intercooler to upper pipe tighter).
I still have that metal bracket that connects the main engine harness and mounts it to the stock battery tray area. Just gotta figure out how to take those huge plastic clips off. Hopefully it works.

Update: I freed up some slack in the engine harness to make it fit on the positive terminal. I removed the metal battery bracket and removed the harness from the clips near the shifter linkages and atop the transmission. Gave me just enough slack to run the harness below the upper pipe, for anyone that may have the same problem.
do you guys with the mini battery issues just not drive your cars very often? I have the STM small battery kit and bought the battery used with unknown age or mileage and have been dailying my evo in the winter and even letting it sit for extended periods either outside or in an un-heated garage for about two years now, started just fine in tempts down into the negatives especially in the morning. Im really surprised that even with a tender some are still not achieving enough CA for a cold start. how old are your batteries? how many miles a trip do some of you drive?
