GSC S2 Cams, leaking valve seals

Last winter I upgraded the cams but left the springs, retainers and seals stock. Upgrading a few things this winter (ff 6266) so I took the manifold off and noticed 2 valves were covered with oil. What would be the chances it has bad valve guides also? Or it could be the seals only?

I know its recommended to upgrade the springs but I read a few threads where members never did. Im in no way bashing gsc, best cams i've owned

I did GSC S2 cams little over a year ago along with a spring swap. 4 months later I was smoking at idle. Replaced w/GSC valve stem seals and problem solved, also threw in titanium retainers as well. You can replace the seals with the head on, and I would think this would solve your problem more than likely. If the guides are bad the head has to come off. Just depends how much you wanna pay to have it done or how much work you wanna do yourself.

I have springs, retainers, seals on order from Map, will swap em out with the head on. Car never smoked, burned oil, or even had a oil burning smell. I dont know what the intake side looks like, possibly a few bad seals as well.

What I did notice a few months back was oil around my oil cap. Could it be compressed air/exhaust fumes being pushed thru the seals causing the oil to shoot thru the cap seal? I dont know if theres oil in the intake but I will soon find out.

Thanks for the help guys

Well, there's people who have had the seals come off and were burning oil and I don't read anything about the filler cap leaking. Maybe a new cap gasket is needed.

with all that oil on the valve stem, i'm very surprised that its not smoking horribly when pulling away from a stop. there was far less oil on my exhaust valve stems when several seals came loose, and my car smoked horribly and stunk.
