Engine turns over but won't start...

Hey guys,

Figured I'd reach out to the community to get some thoughts...

I have a 2.3L Evo 8 tuned on SD, running 1000cc injectors, Walboro 255, a SpoolinUp COP, one range colder plugs, and a relocated full-sized battery (coming up on 3 years old).... I have a lot done, but i think those are probably all of the relevent mods

Over the last two weeks the car will crank, but never seems to catch, and will occassionally give me a single pop right at the end. Recently, I have not been daily drive it, and it has been very cold in NJ, so I took a guess that it was the battery getting a little weak and tried to jump it. No luck. After trying to turn it over a couple of times the car started to wreak of gas. I pull the spark plugs to make sure everything was fine with them. Cleaned them off, checked the gap, let the the engine air out a little from the gas smell, and tried again (with the battery jumped off another car, in order to eliminate any variables)... nothing. I checked the fuses (ignition, etc)... nothing.

This is my first winter with SD... is this just a "cold start" issue that can be fixed with a tuning adjustment or is there likely something more going on?

Thoughts?

Thanks, guys!

How cold was it? Try a heating pad under the oil pan. I was unable to start up my 2.0 with similar fuel mods when it got below -10. I to tried those remedies to no avail, I was able to stick a heat pad under the oil pan for a bit and that helped pop her off after a few turns.

It's been all over the place temp-wise lately... 0-30 degrees outside, but the car, is sitting in my garage (not a heated garage, but still should be a little less cold)... even on days when it gets a little warmer, 40 degrees, it won't seem to turn over. The heat pad on the oil pan is worth a shot. Thanks!

It's worth rechecking, because it would be a blessing if it was just something stupid I overlooked (as opposed to something complicated that will give me a brain aneurysm). Thanks!

so the car turns over (cranks) or doesnt?

huge difference between an engine cranking (turning over) but not starting and an engine not cranking
