Putting rear axles back in after diff swap

Both rear axles are 'mostly' in. I can't seam to make them go the last 1/4 inch.

Do I need to give them some sledge-o-matic to fully seat them ? or is there a trick ?

Thanks

No trick, they do need to be seated. They have a clip that need to go into a groove and it may require you to push harder on it until you cant just pull the axle out by hand. A slight tap with a mallet will work, a sledge could very well damage the axle.
