There are lots of write ups everywhere. A quick google/site search will point you in the correct direction. You will need a leakdown tester(build, buy, borrow, rent one), compressed air, tools, etc.

With your compression that low I am not surprised you have had difficulty starting your car. That sort of confirms there is a compression issue. The leak down will help you figure out where the air is going.
