You're going to hate it if you drive anything but freeways

Is the pump itself leaking or the high pressure line that's leaking? I wouldn't remove the power steering pump just because its leaking you will regret it. Especially if you have lowered the car at all and the geometrics are off in the front of the car it will be a total pain in the butt to turn that wheel.

As already mentioned depending on driving conditions it will suck. If you live in a city don't even bother and parallel parking becomes a massive forearm workout

I've heard taking the fluid out of the rack helps a lot going to manual steering on a ps setup. Something to look into

I want to ditch mine so bad for weight and space in the bay. I drive my evo 3-4 times a month always to race or go to meet and I'm a little bit lighter than average evo but I worry that it will take any enjoyment out of driving this car.

Buschur was supposed to make a electric power steering system but i am not sure what happened to that project. i would of loved to have one.

on a side note there has to be a way to make a manual rack work in the evo.

otherwise fix/replace the pump. the car SUCKS to drive under 30mph without power steering.

I've driven lots of cars without power steering, including a 1953 Chevy 3/4 ton (seriously heavy iron).

It isn't bad, and I am not built like Conan or anything.

Cars that are designed without a power steering pump are by nature easier to turn because its set up that way from the factory. Cars that are designed to use a power steering pump that have that pump removed are inherently way harder to turn because it wasn't designed to be operated that way.
