T4 6466 drain line having issues

I am closing in on the startup and everything is going smooth aside from this stupid drain line issue.

I bought the STM oil drain line (-10 an fittings) and it came pre-assembled but it was about 12 inches long and I am working with 6 inches from oil pan to turbo, so I slowly started to chop it (I have extra line just in case) until it fit. Now I have it on but there is a slight kink and that worries me with a $1800 turbo. I don't want to fire it up unless I get the OK from you guys. I was thinking of maybe trying a different fitting off the turbo to give it better angle or even ditching the AN fitting off the turbo side and just using a push lock style fitting.

Anybody know if a slight kink -10 is still plenty or if I should continue to try other options, at this point the STM oil return line was a bust.

looks like you have no room. remove them AN fittings and convert it over to push lock. it will net you a little more room.

Thankyou evodan, yeah what angles do you think I should try?

2 straights, 2 45 degrees? Or 1and1 how o have it now?

Maybe I'll just buy the few fittings locally and try a few I know I'm going to end up stretching them without the AN wrench. I just need a little more flex

i have a lot more room and i use the AN like you did.

IMO i would use 2 45s if possible. face them to each other.

yeah i'd go with push lock fittings with the pushlock hose . The push lock hosing will be more flexable without it kinking.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you fire it up and it smokes then change it out. That is a small kink and a ball bearing Turbo has much less oil flow through it. It won't hurt it if it smokes. It will just let you know it is not sufficient drain.

Ahh ok thanks batty. Yeah I was talking to a local 9second dsm'r by the name of Tedspec since he was welding my tial flange on my UICP and he said THE EXACT same thing.

"If journal bearing it COULD be a problem since it's feeding more oil, bit being that you have a bb turbo with a -4 line and inline restricter the size of a pin hole, even with a slight kink it would still drain faster than it pools up."

I'm just being overly cautious

I think I might still order the Pushlock fittings from Evodan and try them out prior to startup if they are affordable ie less than $40 for the two fittings. Otherwise I'll just start up the way if have it and if it smokes I'll stop immediately and change it out. I did flow test the spare line I have with water and it still flowed fine with the slight kink.
