BBK-3B vs. HKS 7460 GTII

All numbers are on 93 pump gas, stock block.

HKS 7460R Mods
HKS Cams and springs
Walbro Fuel pump
Vishnu- V-band 3”TBE
Megan 02 Housing
Busher’s ported exhaust manifold
ETS 3” FMIC
ETS LICP
Injen intake/UICP
Forge MBC
PTE 1000’s
Spark Tech coils
Synapse DV

BBK-3B + additions
GSC S2 cams
ETS 4" FMIC
ETS UICP
ETS SD 3" intake
Invidia O2 housing
Grimmspeed ebcs, SD tune
Port/gasket-matched exhaust manifold and turbo

As expected; the HKS is still the king of spool, but the BBK has the top-end, with less boost.

Out of 4 pulls with the BBK, 1 pull had a random count (1) of knock and the others all (0) across the entire range.

Doesn't the FP Green out spool them both?

Those are very nice numbers on stock block pump gas btw.

Is your egt probe in the right runner? I thought they went in the far passenger side?

GSC S2 cams
ETS 4" FMIC
ETS UICP
ETS SD 3" intake
Invidia O2 housing
Grimmspeed ebcs, SD tune

with all these additions I would want to bolt the HKS back on the car to see where its at. with all those changes including the bigger turbo I would have expected bigger gains. the HKS is a huge winner from 3-5000rpm. 5-6000rpm its pretty equal. 6000 up the BBK wins. but there certainly would have been some good gains from 6-8000 with the HKS if it had received all those mods.

And what happened to fixing the HKS turbo? did that happen?

Nice comparisons, I don't live too far from KHC. I will have to check them out one of these days.

You swapped to many parts to show a good comparison

I don't have experience with the green.

It's fine in the first or 2nd runner

The KHS is still sitting on the bench, I might try it with all the new parts, but don't hold your breath yet.

I know, but the HKS was maxed on 93, this on still has more to go.

Pete (Petey Turbo) tunes there and they're literally around the corner from me. Good tune, fairly priced and when you make an apportionment for 10AM, you're on the dyno @ 10.... not 3 or 4 PM

Time slips from this weekend.

This is full weight and junk in the trunk, close to 3,500 lb
93 pump gas, Star Spec tires, launching @ 5k rpm without utilizing launch control or NSTL

Basically, I just wanted to get an idea of where this setup stands as a daily ride.

On a side note, I noticed that ETS's 4" FMIC was doing a great job. After one of the runs, I popped the hood and noticed that my UICP was actually cold! it felt colder than the ambient temperature.

Yes, but look @ the boost. This would be great for autoX and daily, but when you're doing 20-30 minutes of WOT @ the road course, you can't run that kind of boost. even @ 24psi the HKS seemed to lose steam near the end of the long straights; this is why I also went with 4" FMIC

why not 3" FMIC with the HKS? With bigger FMIC, i.e 4" more turbo lag! I think HKS might be more efficient at low end with smaller FMIC. Anyhow HKS won't do much at high end, so with smaller FMIC you will take advantage of the turbo were it is more effective.

Great comparison man!

I had 3" FMIC with the HKS, possibly that's one of the reasons it had all that low-end

The HKS was om MAF

Here's a closer comparison with similar PSI, see how the BBK keeps on going, and both on 93 gas. My goals are not glory runs, rather daily pump gas numbers.
