Stock turbo suction pipe on IX worth replacing?

Hi Guys,

the stock turbo suction pipe, how it is ribbed in shape… Mine is currently in good condition.

the car only has 31,000 Miles.

I see after market products "Suction pipes, that improve air flow compared to stock"

The car will also have Air pod, full exhaust, hi flow cat, dump pipe & 22 PSI boost.

still with the stock turbo, so will the aftermarket smooth silicone ones make much of a difference for my set-up?

Any advice will be great

The stock intake has been proven good to nearly 400whp, if not more. I'm speaking of the box included.

Smoother airflow will yield to better airflow obviously, picking up a few extra horses. But I wouldn't change it unless I'm going big.

Thats what I've heard also that aftermarket ones don't offer too much more than the stock rubber suction. And by the way, they are NOT cheap… I've seen some Japanese brands for about $350 but is equipped with all hoses and clamps.

well I've replaced the air box with the GRUPPE - M on my set up.

Yeah 400WHP is pretty much where i would be comfortable.

Perhaps its just a waste of money for now, even with the intake upgrade.

You can get the ETS or STM or Buschur or any other brand for around $200-250, which is obviously cheaper, IF you choose to change your intake. But yes, put your money elsewhere if you do not intend to go above 400~ whp

The most power you can make is with the HKS Intake, I made an additional 14WHP over my Apexi unit and it wasn't even close to OEM which is indeed restrictive.

Get the HKS Unit, it works. Also get some cams while you are at it, some GSC S's, spend the money and at 26PSI you'll look at 370WHP Vs. the 300-320 not to mention a huge bump in torque.

If you don't have hard IC piping look into that as well as a larger FMIC.

Well the guy that owned the car prior, i don't know what he was doing.

its he either had NFI, or he pulled out a lot of parts to sell.

in relation to the HKS unit, the green pod? Its illegal here. Intake has to be enclosed/covered.

The Gruppe-M is very similar but actually costs more than any HKS unit I've come across… its similar with the K&N filter

.

id like to think that its better than the HKS?… but if its not…its better than the stock one by far.

whats GSC & FMIC?

Since you mentioned cams, What sort of cam do you recommend then?

also about 26PSI… stock turbo and stock internals?
the reason i ask…is apparently the Idiot who had the car before me had run 28PSi boost without intake, exhaust, hi flow cats and no dyno.
somehow it blocked up the Cat and required replacement… and it had flexed the engine block…caused a coolant leak.

nothing has happened since it was dropped to about 21psi… but without exhaust at this stage…its still restricted, id imagine.

depends on Where you are from.

Literally E V E R Y T H I N G in Australia is ILLEGAL, heres to list a few;

external dumps

exposed Air pod filters

external BOVs

Canon exhausts over 100db

test pipes

Rims larger than 1 size higher than OEM size

decorative LED lights anywhere on the car

racing steering wheels without air-bag (unless the vehicle was not equipped with one from OEM)

removal of rear seat

wheel spacers

lowering of the suspension

carbon fibre bonnets & boot lids (hood & trunk)

roll cages

Slick Tyres (Tires)

DVD players that activate when the handbrakes (E-Brake) are OFF

Any form of gauges mounted above the dashboard as well as on the pillars (obviously unless its stock like the JDM Nissan S15 Silvia)

so yeah… its fun here!

GSC is a company that produces automotive parts and are well-known for their camshafts. I would recommend the GSC 1s for your power goals. You may purchase the GSC S2s, but the 1s would be more appropriate.

FMIC is an abbreviation for intercooler.

I wouldn't even bother with S1's, too mild of an Upgrade unless on a budget to avoid springs and retainers.

Well i dunno,….

Tomei Poncams seem to be widely available for 4G63…

what do you think of that… I've never heard of GSC… Id probably rather stick with the JDM brands

GSC's seem to be the best overall and retain amazing streetability. I would look into them if I were you.

ill definitely consider.

Its just that I've noticed a lot of brands form the USA…

STM, ETS, AMS and GSC etc? are independent organisations that brand their own parts.

i never heard of these brands prior to buying the EVO and joining this forum.
