Apexi AFC-2 settings
Since I disconnected my battery... Does my ECU have to relearn things? Maybe that is why the car felt slower to me then it did b4 I put the AFC in? Or is it because I have those plus settings when the car really starts to pull. From 2800-4600RPM. Would you suggest me making my settings closer to yours? What are your settings before 3800 0 or positive numbers? I have heard many things some say add fuel in the lower RPM's some say take it away.... I don't really know what the hell I should do. LOL! Add it take it? To me the car pulls like a bat out of hell down low with the factory settings but once u get up top seems to fall on it's face.

Ok that's more like it! I did some tweaking today and now I can tell the AFC is doing it's job.
My settings are still conservative but they do help the top end alot. My MAX knock is 53 counts so I know I could go leaner but for right now till i can get on a Wideband it's fine.

Tuning an AFC without a wideband or an EGT is like walking in a house dark at night with no lights. Careful with your settings. Plenty of people who's afc settings were totally inaccurate until he dyno'd and tuned from there.
Tonight I was taking my GF home and decided to do a 2nd 3rd pull up to about 90 ish. The weird part is one screen said my knock count was 36 and the other said 180.... Wich is it? The one that said 36 is the one with the moving bars on it and stuff i guess digital and analog.. The other was just the screen with 4 channels kar, rev, cor, knk. Has anyone had this problem? I am running fairly conservative settings but If i have a knock count of 180 that isn't that good....
There's a knock setting thread around here somewhere. Search for it. When you set your knock you want the count level to be as high as possible. My knock settings were ~200, so now my knock level always shows 0, unless I'm really running hard for a long time or on long road trips (2 hr+ trips) then the knock level will show something like 10-15.
I think my knock count is off. It says I am getting a count of 73 on only 14.5 psi..... Maybe I should reconfigure it.... But atleast it says 73 in both screens unlike last night it said 180 in 1 and 36 in another.....
When calculating it
1500rpm is 63
3500rpm is 80

The most convenient but worst way to see if you're really detonating badly is to see if you are pulling timing thru the rpms.. set your display to the graphing function with the rpms... and do a run... when u see high levels of knock.. see if the car lose power or acceleration.. if u do notice that it becomes slower at certain rpms after the high knock count.. most likely your ecu is pulling a few degrees of timing to stop the detonation from reoccuring.. that means you're running to lean.. richen it by 1 or 2 %. until u get a smooth power delivery.. the best way is still via a dyno... but this way works if no dyno is available...
I don't see any timing pull. The car pulls like hell. I used to notice it a little in my Eclipse that was pushing 19 psi. So I should be able to notice it with this car.
Usually.. 1 spike will not pull timing.. but rapid successive spikes will... i tend to ignore the readings up to 150 counts.. and ignore the one offs... only those that come in succession tend to make u notice the pulled timings... and sometimes you can hear a 'zing zing zing zing' sound.. depending on how sensitive your ears are... if u are really worried.. book yourself in at a dyno..
Would a back fire cause the knock sensor to go crazy? Slight back fire... Because I have never seen a knock count that high....

Check this out. I have my AFC on File 2 with 0% correct. I got a knock count of 214.... Does it seem like my knock calculations are off so it thinks I have more knock then i really do.... Maybe the car was not warm enough when i did the calculations....
yeah i just installed SAFCII last week and have my setting going to -12 for the highest...i think i am still running pretty rich and dont see much knock on the monitor either...car pulls alittle better up top, but i dont heavy throttle my car much either.. I also used the field harness and have yet to shove it back up in there...lol I too am still kinda confused on the settings i should run...i think im just going to leave my settings alone like they are right now...seems to be alright.
