Cylinder Head Porting: Exhaust
Cylinder Head Porting: Exhaust
Hey everyone I was looking for some information on porting the exhaust side of the cylinder head.
From what I see the intake side just needs some cleaning up and pocket porting under the valves. I also see that it's basically gasket matched from the factory.
The exhaust side seems to need more work. There's a good amount
Of material left on each port. So much that there is a clear amount of spot outling this.
Are there any benefits to opening up the exhaust side of the manifold and to gasket match it along with the exhaust manifold?
The only downside I've found is that the exhaust side is very close to water jackets.
Thanks for any knowledge you can share.

flow testing is important.
Do not go 1mm oversize valves - I lost 10% flow doing that (on a test combustion chamber - spare head).
IMO there is no point just "opening up" the ports, they need to be flow tested otherwise you dont know if you're going backwards.
