Aem Vs Hks Intake

I cant seem to find much info on these two products. I konw alot of people run the hks. they both come with turbo inlet pipes. they seem to be very similar but the aem is like 125 bucks cheaper. Are they both same intake diameter?/ Any info about either product would be great.

I think they are pretty much the same, its just a filter and a intake pipe. HKS add some bling factor but other than that, I dont see any differences.

In the other hand, I'm curious if there are any performance gain from the factory rubber hose with a cone filter to a complete kit with metal charge pipe.

So I'm guessing the AEM is the best bang for the buck then. I think the hard pipe smooths the air flow out, that be about it.

Only if you can get the AEM to fit right. I've put about 400-500 miles on mine and it just doesn't fit right. The coupling to the turbo doesn't fit right, and the filter still hits the hood. And I cant get the stock intake duct thing to fit flush with the metal lip. Adjustment problems are never ending. Actually thinking of getting rid of it, I'll try the ARC!!!!!!!!

where the heck were you when they made a huge thread about that AEM filter hitting the hood. YOu better do a search buddy .... in that thread... someone contacted AEM, and they said to everyone "if you have the invoice or receipt from the intake bought, we will refund your money or replace it with a smaller redisgned filter" .... The new AEM intakes are already taken care of, and they automatically come with that smaller filter... thats too bad u didn't call AEM dryad001

I have the AEM and had the filter hitting the hood....I called them, faxed in my proof of purchase and they sent me a new, smaller filter free of charge that fits great

I have the AEM too, and i'm pretty sure I was one of the first few that bought the first batch that was being shipped. I lost my ******* receipt/proof of purchase, so i've been kinda screwed. My filter is beat to hell, but who really cares . I'll shell out the couple of bucks and buy a new one when I need to.

I got the early batch and it still fits ok. You just have to work around it. The filter is massive and actually, it looks pretty cool. I'm thinking about calling aem and ask them to either refune or send me a new filter. well, if I were you, I would get the K&N typhone with the CF heatshield. Stay away from HKS, the filter is really poorly made and it wont filter out all the dust. Peace..

I saw that thread. I purchased the intake about 1.5 months ago, well after that thread was started so I thought that on mine the problem would be resolved but I guess not.

It looks like all I will have to do is trim part of the heat shield for the air intake black thingy to fit and trim just a little bit off of the hood black thing for the filter not to hit.

Not knocking AEM at all. It works especially well when you get a TB with cat delete. Next up EBC!!!!
