Hey guys lately on my Evo IX when im in neutral idling with the clutch out its been making this knock/tapping sound. Its not extremely loud but you can definitely hear it. however, when i press in the clutch the sound goes away. I have an ACT street disc clutch by the way. also, sometimes the clutch also makes a squeaking sound when its not pressed in but goes away once its pressed in also. Could this possibly be the TOB? Any of you experience this before? Thanks

It could be flywheel bolts, TOB, clutch springs, or basically anything in between. Try using a stethoscope to pinpoint the source of the noise to narrow it down.

 

Does the sound change when you adjust the clutch travel screw?
