Timing belt - cam marks with Mivec?

So sorry for the newb question....20+ yrs with DSM's but I'm new to MIVEC.

When trying to perform a T-belt job on my IX, the mivec cam gear moves ~2 teeth.

How do we line this up if the cam gear is moving due to mivec??

Just align the cam gear marks to the valve cover. When the car starts and oil pressure builds, it won't have that movement anymore.

Does it not matter which position the mivec cam gear is in when you align the marks?

Rotated the intake cam as far counterclockwise it would go and used that to align with the marks on the valve cover. Spun engine over by hand 12 times and all seems well.

She fired up on the first try.

Finishing up and then I'll take it for a spin...

Sounds good! Sorry, I was on vacation and didn't see your question. Hopefully, everything is running well now.

No problem.

Got it working but even after replacing all seals and gaskets (minus front case) I seem to still have a leak around the intake cam...

Back apart it must come

I'd take off the upper timing belt cover and try to determine if it is coming from the valve cover or cam seal. It's hard though with the MIVEC cam since you can't see through it. Try to use a mirror and a flashlight.
