Output shaft help

So I'm having a really hard time with a transmission install.. I've never done it on an evo but have on dsm's. I didn't know the out put shafts had to cone out so when I was trying to drop the tranny it wouldn't come.. Finally learned I needed a slide hammer to get out.. It was realky tough coming out but finally got it finally got the tob replaced put the tranny back up and got the transfer case on.. I could not get the out put shaft back in so I unbolted the transfer case back out and then finally was able to get the output shaft in.(not easily) now the transfer case will not reach to the transmission with the output shaft in and now I really can't get the out put shaft out.. While all this was going down I still had the passenger out put shaft in so I took it out thinkin maybe it would make it easier but no difference.. I' have been working on this for 72 hours pretty straight through and can't do anything.. Any help please.

Anybody ? Is it possible to get the transfer case on with the output shaft in? If not any ideas why it's stuck or how to get it out? I mean I really have been banging it with the slide hammer and nothing.

i have always bolted up transfer case first and then installed output shaft. That output shaft should not be that difficult to install or remove. A few taps with the slide hammer is all mine needed. Were the c-clips on the shaft still in decent condition?

side note...i think I am the one who was helping you on the facebook threads. Luis?

Yea the output shaft was not tooo hard getting out the first time.. But I think shoving it in with out the transfer case fully mounted in screwed me and maybe screwed something up? I have an even better slide hammer now and still can't get it out.. I'm not a small guy and I'm hitting that slide hammer as hard as I can over and over and I'm getting nothing.. If I can't get it the next option will be to drop the sub frame and pull the tranny and transfer case while they are still stuck together but I really didn't want to. I think when I was trying to mount the transfer case it got hung up on the output shaft a little too because I definitely can't get the transfer case at all either. I haven't posted on Facebook but any help or opinions would be great. ALL this because my tob broke in half.

So actually was able to pry the transfer case off the the transmission and I believe what happened was I smacked the output shaft too far in. I finally got it out tho and got the transfer case mounted.
