Alright, bringing back to life an old thread. But just threw this code today. What would cause the hose to come off the EGR? Why did not put hose clamps on it?

By the way, thanks for the info on how to solve the problem!

got this problem too.....

i see the two hoses... one in front of the egr (between intake manifold and engine) and the other behind the egr (on the firewall side). I guess I'm confused as to what actually is the egr valve hose. If is one of the hoses mentioned above? both those have hoses have clamps on them, so I'm guessing it isn't those hoses.

The EGR has a black peice that is sticking out (directly under the IC hose) that looks like a hose would attach to... is this where the hose is missing?? If so, where is the source of this hose? I don't see any stray hoses when i fish around in there.

Thanks for the help guys. I also would be lost w/o this forum.

Matt

I've given the best typed description I can man, if you look at the pic while feeling around back there while the car is cool you will be able to find it.

I foudn the egr, that isn't the problem, it's finding the hose thats the problem. Where is the source of this egr hose? I don't see any disconnected hoses floating around there. I appreciate the help you have given. it's just so frustrating to be this close to fixing the problem and not knowing what to do. Stupid hoses, once I find that damn hose I'm clamping the hell out of it, HA!

zip tie every hose you can find man, some are too small for clamps and very odd sizes, good luck, check every vac line that goes to the intake manifold.

I've checked every hose and I still get the error.... I still dont know what to do. Hopefully when I go back to turbotrix in the spring they can do something to the ecu so that it ignores it or whatever..... car still runs great even with that CEL.

I even had the EGR tested at the mitsu dealership and everything works perfectly.

I THOUGHT I checked every hose, but one of the two hoses you can't see was popped off. Standing by the driver's side fender, the nipple was pointing away from me underneath where the throttle body is, and I had to feel for the hose that was disconnected and pull it toward me to put it back on. What's funny is, I thought this SES was from my new BOV, which it might have been, but only because it may have let so much pressure build up that the hose blew off. One of these days, I'm going to zip-tie every damned hose I can find.

But yeah the P0401 hasn't come back yet, and my car doesn't feel like it has a boost leak anymore.

I got the code today.... I will try to go and fix it.

Also when my car hits boost I can hear to turbo spool.... then after a while I hear another hissing sound..... I'm assuming a hose popped off...???

Will be back later...

okay,

looked around ans saw that the hose from the back of the EGR valve, by the firewall side blew off. I plugged the line back where its supposed to go and zip tied the sucker....

hopefully the code wont happen again.
